The Spanish club stated that the move is “in response to the will and request expressed” by Ronaldo, who has spent the past nine years at the Bernabeu since signing from Manchester United.
The fee paid by the Serie A champions is reported to be around £88m for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
President Florentino Perez is now thought to be focused on the future of the club, and the need to soon reshape the side while ensuring the same glamour and marketing value is maintained.
It is well known that he would like to fund a move for one of Neymar or Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, while Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is also a target.
Whoever Real Madrid decide to pursue, you can be sure they will look to immediately reinvest the £88m they have made by moving on Ronaldo.
Here we look at the seven players they will most likely turn to, to fill the void left by Ronaldo.
