Falcao’s short time at Chelsea so far has replicated his dismal spell at Manchester United last season, and there is a suggestion that the Premier League club could cut short his loan agreement from Monaco to seek other alternatives in January.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that Falcao will continue to be a Chelsea player, but there is the possibility that the player himself will look to end his time at Stamford Bridge prematurely due to the lack of first-team football he has seen due to falling behind Diego Costa and Loic Remy in the pecking order.
According to The Mirror, Serie A side Fiorentina have already expressed an interest in signing Falcao for the rest of the season should he become available in the January transfer window.
That would require the player, Chelsea and Monaco coming to an agreement over terminating his loan deal with the London side before any talks with Fiorentina could take place, but Mourinho’s reluctance to play the Colombia international suggests that could be a discussion on the horizon.
Falcao scored just four goals for United last season, but Chelsea moved to sign him in the summer after allowing Didier Drogba to leave the club for a second time. Falcao has scored just once in the Blue of Chelsea though, with his effort nothing more than a consolation in the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in August.
The striker’s only Premier League start of the season came in the 3-1 loss to Southampton at the start of the month, while he also began the Capital One Cup victory over Walsall before being substituted in the closing minutes.
