Jose Mourinho is again linked with a January move for a Premier League striker, with Leicester City star Jamie Vardy on his shopping list, according to to reports.

With Diego Costa linked with a move away from the club after a poor 2015, Loic Remy seemingly unable to win the trust of the Portuguese and Radamel Falcao proving a bust, Chelsea have been linked with numerous targets over the past couple of days.

Cut-price, short-term options Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Adebayor were both previously said to be interesting the Chelsea boss, but the Daily Mirror now report that Mourinho could make a £20million move for the Leicester City striker.

Vardy, the top scorer in the Premier League this season with 13 goals, has scored in a record-equalling 10 matches in a row, whereas Costa has just seven in the last 10 months.

Chelsea, who sit 15th in the Premier League table and face a tough trip to White Hart Lane on Sunday, are also interested in Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele, reports the paper.

Dembele, also 28, has been in fine form for Mauricio Pochettino’s team this season and the midfielder could also cost £20m.

Neither top of the table Leicester or fifth-place Spurs will want to sell two of their biggest assets in January.

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri said that Vardy, among other players being linked with moved out of the King Power Stadium, would be better off staying at the club.

"If you go to a big team and stay on the bench, do you feel good or not?,” the Italian said. "Now they are the kings here. In another side would they be the king or something else?

"That is important. I want ambitious men but it is also important they understand where Leicester is going.

"I think we are building a very good construction. I understand if somebody wants to go but I believe in the next years Leicester, slowly, slowly, can grow up and battle at the top.”
