Fiorentina have confirmed that defender Marcos Alonso has joined Chelsea in a reported £23m deal, becoming Antonio Conte’s fourth signing of the summer.

While the Blues are yet to formally confirm the deal, Fiorentina have gone ahead and confirmed the move, which sees the 25-year-old left-back move to Stamford Bridge on a five-year deal after flying to London for a medical.

A statement from the Italian club read: “ACF Fiorentina can confirm that Marcos Alonso Mendoza has joined Chelsea Football Club on a permanent transfer.”

“It was an easy decision for me to make when I heard the club were interested in signing me. My family and close friends know Chelsea is the club I have dreamed about playing for so I’m really excited about the challenge and I'm looking forward to working with my new team-mates.”

Another move that Chelsea are closing in on is the return of central defender David Luiz, with the 30-year-old also flying in to the club’s Cobham training base to undergo a medical and seal his move back to the club that he left two years ago.

Deadline Day: Arsenal Transfer News

Chelsea agreed a £32m deal to sign Luiz from Paris Saint Germain, and the Brazil international was pictured arriving by helicopter to the Blues’ training complex to finalise a move in the coming hours.
