From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Barcelona forward has officially completed his move after undergoing a medical with the reigning champions in London earlier today.
In order to feature for Jose Mourinho's struggling side in their Premier League match with West Brom on Sunday, he needed to complete every aspect of his transfer by midday on Friday - something which he has managed with nearly a day to spare.
Premier League rules state that for players to be eligible to play, they must be signed by 12 noon on the final working day of the week in order to feature at the weekend - even if the match in question is on the Sunday or Monday.
Rule U.23 states: Subject to the provisions of Rule V.1, the deadline for receipt by the Secretary of all duly completed documents required by these Rules to effect the registration of a Player shall be 12 noon on the last Working Day before the date of the first League Match in which the Club making the application intends him to play, save that the international transfer certificate and evidence of eligibility to take up employment in the United Kingdom (in both cases if applicable) may be provided thereafter (but must be provided before the Player is registered by the League).
Chelsea have just one point from their first two matches.
