Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole is being linked with three unnamed clubs abroad.

Sky Sports News has linked the 33-year-old with a move away from the Premier League, but did not mention which three clubs were chasing Cole's signature.

Cole has been on an extended break in the USA since the end of last season after being released from Chelsea after an eight-year stay.

He has been linked with numerous clubs with Barcelona, AC Milan and Roma all previously reported to be interested.

However, Cole may follow the lead of another former Blue Frank Lampard, who will play in Australia for the Melbourne Heart before moving to Manchester City's MLS team, New York City, in March.

Cole, who won 107 caps for England before announcing his retirement after failing to get into the World Cup squad, played more than 300 games for Chelsea, winning eight major trophies for the Blues.

He won the Double in 2010, the Champions League in 2012 and the Europa League in 2013.
