Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez has affirmed his commitment to the club to The Telegraph quashing any rumours he would be going anywhere. The Chilean forward has said that the exit door isn’t even in his mind-set.
“I am very happy at Arsenal and I’m not thinking about leaving,” said Sanchez.
“The unity here between fans, club and players is enormous and the supporters have been fantastic. We suffer the defeats and enjoy the victories together.
“This campaign we are demonstrating that we are serious candidates for the Premier League title. I think there can be no doubt about our credentials to be champions this time.”
Such is the 27 year olds commitment to the club that he has even said he may even get a tattoo to celebrate an Arsenal title.
Elsewhere the Daily Star understands that Pep Guardiola would rather join Arsenal than current champions Chelsea. Any move, though, would rely on current boss Arsene Wenger stepping down. With the Frenchman currently preparing to put pen-to-paper on a two year extension keeping him at the club until 2019, such a possibility would appear slim.
Stoke City also appear to have begun rivalling the Gunners for Porto midfielder Giannelli Imbula. Arsenal have been linked with the £19 million rated Belgian born player who has failed to impress in Portugal.
The Daily Mirror report that the players agent, and father, has said We know that Porto want to sell Giannelli. At the moment we haven't had any contact with other clubs, but we could talk to some sides."
With Arsenal thought to be one of those sides. However, January transfers aren’t in Wenger’s usual character and having already bought Mohamed Elneny to the club from F.C Basel it would appear the North London clubs business may be done for now.
