Your support makes all the difference.The rumour mill has been in overdrive in recent weeks as Europe’s biggest clubs set about pursuing some of the continent’s most promising and exciting players.
With the parsimonious Arsene Wenger at the helm, Arsenal have never really bought into the philosophy of spending lavishly.
They’ve brought in some golden signings over the years, there’s no denying that, but Wenger has been relatively sensible with his money. He’s been scrupulous with his transfers to ensure the club gets value for money on the players it buys.
Having already signed Grantit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach, in a reported deal worth £30m, and Takuma Asano from Sanfrecce Hiroshima, for an undisclosed fee, the Gunners will now be looking to add to their ranks.
Fans have specifically called for Wenger to bolster the side’s frontline. Former player Ray Parlour recently urged his old club to sign a new forward, arguing that the side needs “someone of the calibre of a Sergio Aguero or a Luis Suarez.”
Despite trying their luck with Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, the club were eventually snubbed by the 29-year-old who has opted to stay put at the King Power Stadium.
As a consequence, the likes of Julian Draxler, Alexandre Lacazette and Romalu Lukaku have all been linked with the club in recent weeks as the Gunners weigh up their options.
It’s not just strikers who are on the cards though. Both Ricardo Rodriguez and Nevan Subotic have been lined up as potential defensive options for Arsenal.
Having suffered defensively at the start of last season without captain Laurent Koscielny among their ranks, the side could benefit from more cover across the backline.
For now, we can only speculate as the club endeavours to keep its business behind closed doors.
