From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Your support makes all the difference.Riyad Mahrez has been “seduced”, apparently.
The Leicester City winger is convinced that Arsenal is the club for him, according to Eurosport France, who say that he is likely to complete a €50m (£41.8m) transfer.
Mahrez’s agent has reportedly denied the link, despite his attendance at the Gunners' 1-1 pre-season friendly draw with Lens on Friday night.
Gonzalo Higuain has long been linked with a move to the Emirates, but if reports in Italy are to be believed, Arsenal may have missed out on him again.
The Napoli striker has undergone a medical at Juventus, according to Sky Italia, as the two clubs attempt to strike a deal.
Other publications suggest that a fee has already been agreed, with the Daily Mail claiming that Higuain’s staggering £78m buyout clause has been triggered.
Chin up, Arsenal fans. Rob Holding, at least, is a confirmed arrival.
The 20-year-old defender joins from Bolton Wanderers, having caught the eye during England Under-21s victorious Toulon tournament campaign.
Holding will take Aaron Ramsey’s no 16 shirt, with the Wales international taking the no 8 vacated by Mikel Arteta.
