Jack Wilshere has become Manchester City's top target this summer with the club preparing a £30million bid for the Arsenal and England midfielder.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has already warned City that the 23-year-old is not for sale at any price but City will ignore the French boss as they look to completely overhaul a stale, ageing squad.

The club will make homegrown talent their main priority at the end of the season and, according to the Daily Mirror, plan to make Wilshere their main man.

Wilshere has endured an injury-hit campaign and has played just 12 matches in all competitions this season, last appearing in the defeat to Manchester United on 22 November.

Since New Year's Day Arsenal have been the form side in the Premier League and Wilshere, who has three years left on his current contract, no longer seems an automatic first-choice, after the emergence of Francis Coquelin.

Wenger was asked about whether he would consider selling Wilshere earlier this month.

"You can imagine my answer," he said. "We are not in a position where we have to sell our best players."
