From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The club were heavily scrutinised for their lack of signings over the summer window in which goalkeeper Petr Cech was the only notable arrival.
However, the Gunners moved to the top of the Premier League with victory over Everton on Saturday, arguably proving Arsene Wenger's prioritisation of a settled side over superstar arrivals right.
Arsenal will have an option to strengthen in January should they wish to do so, but midfielder Wilshere does not think it will be necessary.
“I don’t think so," said the 23-year-old when asked whether the club should enter the transfer market in three months time.
“Defensively we look good. We’ve got Gabriel [Paulista] who has really grown up. Last season, he was settling in. He is really suited to the Premier League.
“We’ve also got Calum Chambers, who if needed, is there."
In midfield and attack, Wilshere believes his own return and that of striker Danny Welbeck will feel like new signings in those departments.
"We’ve also got myself and Danny Welbeck who should be back round January and make the team stronger.”
Wilshere is aiming to prove his fitness in the new year and he has thanked Wenger for providing him with strong support during his latest injury setback.
"He’s been great for me. People have criticised him in the past but for me, he’s been fantastic and he’s stuck by me.
"Without a doubt, he’s the right person to take Arsenal forward. I want to see him at Arsenal forever!"
