Arsenal are targeting moves for Germany duo Sami Khedira and Lars Bender following the signing of Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez.

The Gunners unveiled the 25-year-old on Thursday, with the Chilean signing a long-term contract after the two clubs agreed a fee believed to be in the region of £35 million.

And with the club confirming their new bumper kit deal with Puma, Arsene Wenger still has a sizeable amount left to spend, with Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira reportedly top of his wishlist.

The French boss is ready to make the 27-year-old the highest-paid player at the club with a deal worth £150,000-a-week, although it is thought that the Spanish club's asking price of £20 million is too high.

Khedira has had an excellent World Cup campaign with Germany and is likely to play in Sunday's Final at the Maracana but his club future is less certain. He has been tipped to depart the Santiago Bernabeu this summer after four years at the club, with compatriot Toni Kroos rumoured to be heading to Spain.

Chelsea are also thought to be in the running for the former Stuttgart schemer, with Jose Mourinho keen to link up with Khedira again after signing him after the 2010 World Cup during his tenure at the La Liga giants, and Arsenal could miss out.

If he fails to land Khedira, Wenger could move for Lars Bender. The highly-rated Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, who could be available for around £18 million, was included in Joachim Löw's 30-man provisional squad but was ruled out with a thigh injury.

The Telegraph report that the Arsenal boss is looking to revive his interest in Bender after having a bid rejected last summer, and with his salary demands likely to be half of Khedira's, 25-year-old Bender could be a more realistic signing in the economic sense.
