Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly allowed FA Cup holders Arsenal to hold preliminary talks with their 19-year-old youngster Adrien Rabiot.

Arsene Wenger has been seeking cover in central midfield all summer, with rumours of a move for Real Madrid's Sami Khedira never too far away, and is believed to have tracked the French youth international's development for the last two years.

The Ligue 1 champions have warned any potential suitors that they will have to meet the £5.6m asking price, which the Gunners are willing to do, but the Londoners face competition for his signature from Juventus and AS Roma.

Rabiot is contracted with the Parisian club until 2015 and has been unable to agree terms on a new deal with Laurent Blanc's side.

Jamie Redknapp, speaking to Sky Sports, questioned the performances of Jack Wilshere after the narrow 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.

"Jack Wilshere's problem is Jack Wilshere," the former Liverpool midfielder said. "He's not performing. He's got to take games by the scruff of the neck like two years ago - there's no excuses anymore.

"It's nothing to do with smoking. I played with better players who smoked. I think he's competing with Mesut Özil for a place because Aaron Ramsey will always score more goals."

Rabiot, who spent a short spell with Manchester City's academy in 2008, has made 3 appearances for the France under-21 side while also making his Champions League debut during a 4-0 group stage victory over Dinamo Zagreb in 2012.
