Arsenal have been offered midfielder Denis Suarez as the Spanish international seeks to leave Barcelona this January in search of playing time.

Suarez, who spent two years at Manchester City as a youngster, has been completely discarded by Ernesto Valverde this season and has barely featured for the Nou Camp club.

With Barca communicating privately to the player's entourage this week that they are happy for him to leave, his representatives have wasted no time in trying to find a new club and have offered him to leading Premier League sides in a cut-price £14m deal.

The 24-year-old playmaker spent a season on loan playing under Unai Emery at Sevilla after struggling to break through at Barca, so the Arsenal boss is well aware of the midfielder's talents.

And at such a knockdown fee, it is a deal that the Gunners are currently mulling over with the chance that they pull the trigger on Suarez to replace Aaron Ramsey, who is set to leave the club in 2019.

Leading Spanish outlets have reported that Arsenal and Chelsea have made enquiries about Suarez but The Independent understands he was offered to a number of clubs as Barcelona look to get a decent fee for the diminutive playmaker.

Barca have previously sold the player to Villarreal with a buyback clause of £3.1m, which they exercised after one successful season in Castellon.

This time, however, it is understood that Barca are ready to make a clean break and they are instead seeking a sell-on percentage rather than an option to bring the player back to Spain.
