Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Daily Telegraph report that the Arsenal manager is now interested in Ospina because that £10m fee is too high and Wenger believes he could get better value elsewhere.
Cardiff rejected a £6m bid for the Scottish goalkeeper last month but Ospina, who has just a year left on his deal at Ligue 1 side Nice, could be available for around £3m.
With Lukasz Fabianski having left the Emirates for Swansea in search of more first team football, Arsenal are without a senior goalkeeper beyond current No 1 Wojciech Szczesny.
The 25-year-old Ospina excelled for Colombia in Brazil, keeping two clean sheets in five matches to reach the quarter-final.
Ospina would not just be a backup were he to arrive at the Emirates, he'd be expected to challenge for the No 1 Jersey.
Szczesny is still only 24 but has endured some criticism during his Arsenal career, while Fabianski was the hero as the Gunners ended their nine-year wait for a trophy in the FA Cup final.
Ospina conceded 24 goals in 29 matches for Nice last season, as the team finished two points above the relegation zone.
