From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. WHAT THEY HAVE DONE (£7.4m)

Signed Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel for a reported £7.4 million to ease their current injury crisis in midfield.

Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky are all currently on the sidelines with the Egyptian international Elneny signing to plug the gaps in midfield.

The 23-year-old Elneny has 32 caps at international level, and has impressed in the Europa League this season for the Swiss side Basel.

WHAT THEY NEED

Despite having one of their strongest squads in years, the Gunners are still lacking up front. Only Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott can lead the line at present.

An experienced striker is exactly what Wenger needs. Gonzalo Higuain and Edinson Cavani have been linked. While neither will come cheap, they are the firepower required for the Gunners final title charge.

WHAT'S LIKELY TO HAPPEN

While Wenger is notoriously slow to reach into the transfer kitty, he did say earlier this month that he would sign “at least” one player.

Notice the use of the word “at least”. How serious are the Arsenal board about their best chance of winning the league title in years? All will be revealed over the next few days.
