The Barcelona striker is at the centre of a tug-of-war between the two Premier League sides and representatives of the Chile international are understood to have held talks with Liverpool yesterday.
The Merseyside club are eager to bring the 25-year-old to Anfield as part of the deal that will see Luis Suarez head to the Nou Camp. Barcelona are also believed to be keen for Sanchez to move to Liverpool to help ease the Suarez deal through.
However, the latest reports suggest that Sanchez still favours a move to London.
Arsene Wenger is understood to have tabled a bid in the region of £22m but are prepared to go much higher. Barcelona value Sanchez, who scored 19 La Liga goals last term, at £35m.
While at first it was thought Liverpool would insist on Sanchez being part of the Suarez deal, their position has softened and the Uruguay striker who will be banned for the start of the season whoever he is playing for is expected to leave regardless.
