Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette has claimed he would be interested in a move to the Premier League after his proposed transfer to Atletico Madrid collapsed.

The French international had long been linked with a move to the La Liga side and in May he said in an interview that the club have “a great coach, nice fans, a project – and they obviously have Antoine Griezmann”.

However the move collapsed when Atletico saw their appeal against a transfer ban denied. The club are thus unable to sign any new players this summer.

And now Lacazette has set his sights on a move to England, revealing in a Facebook Live interview with Eurosport that a potential transfer was “an interesting option”.

"That could be an interesting option, it is a great league with interesting teams,” he said during the interview.

"For the moment, those are only rumours.

"I will wait until the end of the international stint with France before taking my decision.”

The news will surely be of interest to Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, all of whom have been linked with the 26-year-old over the past 12 months.

Lacazette, who scored 28 goals in 30 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon last season, also appeared to rule out joining Atletico and staying with the French club on a short-term basis.

“A loan to Lyon until the winter window? I have not looked at that much because the President is saying that that is not possible,” he added.

“We will have to prepare ourselves for all eventualities, but that is not the way I want it to go.”
