Liverpool's attempt to sign Alberto Moreno from Seville for £16.2m has reached a halt because the La Liga side have reportedly demanded the bulk of the transfer fee up front.

According to the Daily Mail, the 21-year-old left-back was due to fly to Liverpool with his father and agent to complete the deal on Monday but the move is now at risk of collapsing over the structure of payments. The Spaniards want guaranteed add-ons to the initial fee.

The transfer could be hit with further complications because Liverpool's midfielder Suso, who was originally proposed as part of the deal for Moreno, is now expected to move to Porto instead. The 20-year-old, who has one year left on his contract, is reportedly the No 1 target for the Portuguese side this summer.

Moreno could yet be Liverpool's third signing of the summer, after Rickie Lambert joined from Southampton for £4m and Emre Can joined from Borussia Dortmund for £9.75m, after the Reds met his buy-out clause.
