In a touching gesture by the club, Woodall has been given the award after fans voted for him in recognition of his ongoing battle with cancer. The academy prospect is currently undergoing four courses of chemotherapy having had radiotherapy treatment and an operation to remove a brain tumour.
The poll was held on the club’s unofficial fan website and nearly 500 supporters voted, with Woodall coming out on top.
A statement issued by the club read: "Aaron's strength and courage has been an inspiration to all of us.
"We will be in touch with the club shortly to arrange to hand over our coveted trophy to this fine young man.”
It added that Woodall’s battle was "a timely reminder of things around us that are much more important than football".
Having had surgery in November last year, Woodall was released from hospital on the 20 December, and he was alongside the St Mirren first team just a few hours later as he fulfilled the duty of the matchday mascot.
"Congratulations, Aaron, and all the very best with your continued recovery,” the statement added.
Midfielder Kenny McLean was the first team player who attracted the most votes despite leaving the club in January to join Aberdeen, and St Mirren are just one defeat away from relegation from the Scottish Premiership.
