From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. James Beattie has vowed to score goals in the Premier League after claiming he can strike up an explosive partnership with Kenny Miller. He was thrown straight into Rangers' 2-1 win against Kilmarnock on Saturday, just 24 hours after sealing his move from Stoke.

Lack of match sharpness was clearly a problem for the 32-year-old, who had been used sparingly following an altercation with the Stoke manager, Tony Pulis, last December. But, after playing 80 minutes alongside Miller, Beattie insisted they can form a formidable pairing for the Scottish champions: "I've watched him from time to time and I know he's a great player. I'm confident I'll score goals wherever I play; it doesn't matter where it is."

Manager Walter Smith turned to Beattie to bolster his depleted squad after Steven Davis returned from international duty with a virus.

Goals from Miller and Steven Naismith sealed the win, despite Jamie Hamill pulling a goal back from the penalty spot for Kilmarnock.

The Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley revealed words of encouragement from manager Neil Lennon had fired them to a 1-0 victory at Inverness after a sluggish start.

Paddy McCourt netted a superb solo goal in the 56th minute, and Ledley said: "He [Lennon] didn't criticise us at half-time. We knew we had talent here and we believe in ourselves."
