Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 18-year-old suffered a knock during a practice match with Celtic at Murray Park yesterday and will go for a specialist scan tomorrow.
Reports suggest the young centre-half could be sidelined for the remainder of the season and miss the Scottish champions' final four games as they edge closer to retaining the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title.
But, according to the club's official website, the full extent of the problem will not be known until after the scan. Wilson has enjoyed an impressive debut season for Rangers and has made 24 appearances so far, including Champions League and Old Firm fixtures.
He was a regular in the heart of defence alongside David Weir, until Madjid Bougherra's recent return from injury.
His displays have already attracted interest from south of the border, with Rangers confirming Liverpool have made an enquiry. Wilson was named Rangers' young player of the year on Sunday and has also been nominated for the PFA Scotland prize.
