Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Ally McCoist, the Rangers manager, will not deliver the bad news personally to any players who are told they have lost their jobs. But he has promised to be waiting outside the room to offer his support to those who are axed by administrators Duff & Phelps as part of cost-cutting measures to keep the club alive.
The finance firm say they must find savings of £1m per month to ensure the ongoing viability of the business and decisions on job cuts are likely to be delivered today. Speaking after the 2-1 home defeat to Hearts on Saturday, McCoist said: "It's not my job, I'm not making anybody redundant, I'm not telling anybody they've lost their job.
"I won't be [in with the players] but I will be waiting outside if and when it happens. My job is to support and be there, which I will. It's been really difficult for everybody.
"The one thing I would do is pay tribute to the entire staff. It's not just the players and the coaching staff – it's everybody here. Morale and an inner-strength to keep going and be there for each other, to me, is really evident and very strong. That will help us get through it," he added.
