From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Kris Boyd, the runaway top scorer in the Scottish Premier League this season with 18 goals in 18 starts for Rangers, will have talks today with Birmingham City.
The move will come as a shock to Rangers' fans, for whom Boyd is something of a folk hero. The Rangers chairman, Sir David Murray, confirmed last night that Birmingham had made an inquiry but that a fee had yet to be agreed. Birmingham will increase an initial offer of £3m to £4m and Rangers will accept that.
Boyd, 25, will be offered a five-year contract, and is understood to be attracted by the prospect of working again with Birmingham's manager, Alex McLeish, who signed him for Rangers from Kilmarnock and later capped him for Scotland.
Birmingham have also agreed a one-month loan deal for the Chelsea winger, Scott Sinclair, 19, while Rangers agreed to sell another forward, Alan Gow, to Wolverhampton for an undisclosed six-figure fee.
