Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Celtic striker Henrik Larsson insists that he is not taking the club's progression to the group stages of the Champions' League for granted, despite tearing apart MTK Hungaria in Budapest on Wednesday night.
The Hungarian champions travel to Parkhead for the second leg of the third qualifying-round tie knowing they have little chance of overcoming the 4-0 deficit. The Swedish striker hit the opening goal that knocked much of the life out of their opponents and, when Didier Agathe tapped home the second, there was little chance of MTK fighting back.
But Larsson said: "I'm always a little bit careful, so first of all we have to see this through. You always hope for a start like this and you always dream about it but you don't count on it."
The Scotland manager, Berti Vogts, believes Rangers are still on course to reach the group stages. FC Copenhagen hold the upper hand in the third qualifying-round tie following the 1-1 first leg draw at Ibrox.
"Only one leg has been played and I think there is a big, big chance for Rangers," Vogts said. "A lot of the Rangers players needed more practice. I think there is a good chance for Rangers to go up into the Champions' League."
