From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Darcheville, who scored the only goal of the game in the final minute after coming on as substitute, said, "The goal was very important because it was important for the team to win the game today. I'm scoring and I am very happy."
Rangers thought they should have taken the lead 17 minutes earlier when a Charlie Adam goal was controversially ruled out as Daniel Cousin was deemed to be standing in an offside position. Television pictures suggested the official called it wrong but Walter Smith was philosophical about the incident. "These things happen," he said, "and it would obviously have been a bit more frustrating for us if we hadn't managed to score the winner. Caley's recent record makes this a difficult place to visit and it was a good win for us."
In the dying minutes Darcheville pounced and secured a hard-fought victory over the spirited home side. Darcheville was cool in front of goal as he got in behind the Inverness defence to place a low effort past the exposed Michael Fraser.
