Celtic's McGeady back in contention after bust-up
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Aiden McGeady is fit and available for Celtic's league game at home to Dundee United today, according to the manager Gordon Strachan.
The Republic of Ireland midfielder returned to training this week after being suspended for a fortnight and fined two weeks wages following a dressing-room bust-up with Strachan after last month's 1-1 draw with Heart of Midlothian.
Strachan was in no mood to expand on the McGeady situation but said: "Everybody who is fit is available. You don't lose any base fitness over two weeks so everybody who is in the squad has a chance of being involved."
The midfielder Barry Robson is hoping McGeady remains at the club to help the Hoops to their fourth SPL title in a row. Robson said: "It's good to have the wee man back."
Rangers, in second place, travel to take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle tomorrow and striker Steven Naismith could be named in the squad for the first time since suffering a serious knee injury last April.
Meanwhile, the Rangers manager, Walter Smith, has said the club have received no enquiries about Barry Ferguson or Madjid Bougherra after the pair were linked with moves to Newcastle. Smith is keen to trim his squad but would only welcome approaches for fringe players who have been told they are free to find new clubs.
