Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The former Manchester United striker was dropped by the Rovers manager, Graeme Souness, when he missed the pre-match team meeting at 1.30pm. Yorke, who is based in Cheshire, arrived 15 minutes later and by that time Souness had decided to play Hakan Sukur instead.
Manchester City risk losing Joey Barton, a few games after giving him his chance to shine in the Premiership. The midfielder has signed a new one-year contract, but is only on around £1,000-a-week. City want to renegotiate, but Barton will wait to see which players arrive this summer before deciding his future and may opt to play out the last season and become a free agent.
Sam Allardyce wants to sign the Greek international Stelios Giannakopoulos. The Bolton manager has been to see the Olympiakos winger in action and rates him highly, but said: "I am interested, but it would depend on whether we are in the Premiership."
