From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

After a dreadful four-loss start, Manuel Pellegrini’s Hammers have bounced back with impressive wins over Everton and Manchester United; they currently lie in 15th place on seven points.
Tottenham’s start to the season has been somewhat mixed; they are only two points from top (in fifth position on 18 points), but disappointing showings against Watford, Liverpool and Inter Milan curtailed their excellent start.

It’s a big game for…
Hugo Lloris: The Tottenham captain has had a torrid time since lifting the World Cup with France in the summer. The 31-year-old was charged with drink-driving in September, missed a flurry of games due to a thigh injury and was at fault for Barcelona’s first goal in their 4-2 win at Wembley in the Champions League. The goalkeeper, who was lucky not to be stripped off the captaincy after his driving ban, needs to find his best form again, and be a leader from the back that Tottenham have so desperately missed thus far.

18: In their last 18 away league matches, Tottenham Hotspur have failed to score just the one time - a 1-0 loss at West Brom in May.
Player to watch…
Andriy Yarmolenko: Once a player confined to newspaper transfer rumours, Andriy Yarmolenko has impressed since breaking into West Ham’s starting XI. The 28-year-old Ukrainian, who moved from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, scored an impressive double at Goodison Park on his first league start for the Hammers last month, and has looked dangerous ever since. Despite missing a golden chance against Chelsea, the tricky left-footed winger has added spark to West Ham’s attack and, alongside Felipe Anderson and Marko Arnautovic, will be a threat against a Tottenham back four which has leaked 15 goals so far this season.
