Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is confident he can “get it right” in the deeper role he has been occupying of late.
The midfielder has been operating just in front of the back four recently, something he admitted had not worked in the Reds' recent 2-2 home draw with Aston Villa.
But he produced an impressive display from the position on Tuesday when Liverpool thrashed their derby rivals Everton 4-0 at Anfield.
And the 33-year-old England skipper, quoted by http://www.liverpoolfc.com, said: "It's a different position to the one that I've played for the last 12 or 15 years.
"Previously, I've been trying to get from box to box. But the new role is more about control and organising the people in front of me.
"I know that with time and work on the training pitch, I can get it right because I believe I can play in a number of positions."
