From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Hodgson is content with life at Albion after helping them to secure Barclays Premier League status with 16 points from 10 games since he took charge in February.
His current deal runs out in the summer of 2012, when he will be 65, and he has no desire to look too far ahead.
Former Liverpool boss Hodgson said: "I am enjoying doing it at the moment. I don't have any more thoughts.
"I'm 64 this summer and, when you reach that age and you're still enjoying your life and enjoying your football, you're better off taking it one year at a time.
"I don't think I need to be looking into the distant future but I am happy here.
"I enjoy the work, I enjoy working with the players and the people I work with and long may that continue."
Hodgson added: "If it's more than a year, who knows? But at the moment I am perfectly happy to keep soldiering on and enjoying life on a day-to-day basis."
