Arsène Wenger has decided to do without Dennis Bergkamp for the crucial Champions' League encounter with Juventus tomorrow.

The Arsenal manager had considered sending his Dutch striker, who has a fear of flying, to Turin by road. But Wenger decided against the arduous journey, with Bergkamp needed for Saturday's noon kick-off FA Cup quarter-final replay with Newcastle United – a match for which Thierry Henry is suspended.

With Henry available against his former club tomorrow, however, Arsenal have not sent Bergkamp ahead, as they did for their previous European away match against Bayer Leverkusen.

Juventus cannot qualify for the last eight, a stage which is still within's Arsenal's reach. "It's quite amazing," Wenger said. "For us, it will be a very big match while, for Juventus, it will be a non-match because they cannot qualify.

"They might lack that sharp edge which you have when you can qualify. But we must still be cautious, as they have nothing to lose and can play freely."
