From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Premier League game between Watford and Chelsea.

Quique Sanchez Flores meets his old manager as Guus Hiddink hopes to extend his unbeaten run since taking charge in mid-Decemeber.

Watford ended a five-game winless streak with victory over Newcastle United 10 days ago and will take confidence from their 2-2 Boxing Day draw with the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

However, Chelsea are a different, more confident team now and will be buoyed by impressive wins against Arsenal and then MK Dons in the FA Cup.

  • Former Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez is available for Watford after joining at the weekend, but Nathan Ake is not allowed to face his parent club
  • Hiddink will likely recall Kurt Zouma and Cesar Azpilicueta to the side after they were rested on Sunday
  • Willian suffered a minor injury but should be fit to face Watford
  • New signing Alexandre Pato could play, although he is lacking match fitness having not played since Novemebr
