From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The Gunners had to overcome some early scares and work hard for their victory against a highly organised and disciplined Watford side who came up with enough spirited attacks of their own.
A deadlock was maintained for over an hour but when the visitors finally took the lead, their goal came through a likely source.
Alexis Sanchez fired the ball into a gaping net after his teammates' incisive breakaway and it was not long before goals from substitute Olivier GIroud and Aaron Ramsey extended the away side's lead.
The Hornets rarely troubled the visitors goal but, just before Sanchez's opener, Etienne Capoue was denied a penalty after being bundled over in the box by Francis Coquelin.
Giroud's goal will have boosted his chances of regaining a starting spot. Theo Walcott was deployed up front from the start again but endured a quiet evening.
Ramsey, meanwhile, scored his first Arsenal goal since the end of last season.
