From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Manchester United's defender Nemanja Vidic insists he is enjoying his stay at Old Trafford and life in the North-west.
The Serb had been quoted as being critical of Manchester as a city, the climate, and of English culture, which he reportedly claimed left no time for savouring "the joy of life".
But he has stressed that his comments, which originated in an interview with a Russian football magazine, have since been inaccurately reported.
Vidic told Manchester United's website: "I'd like to clarify that I did not make these particular remarks. I spoke about the difficulty I had settling in to life in Manchester, but that does not reflect how I feel now. I enjoy my life very much at Manchester United and I'm very happy to be a part of this great club.
"I think I show that in the way I play every week. I also have far too much respect for the people of Manchester, and England, to criticise them in this way."
