Arsenal look likely to be busy in the January transfer market judging by today's rumour mill. The Gunners are leading the race for Edinson Cavani (Daily Star), are lining up a bid for German goalkeeper Loris Karius (Daily Mirror), closing in on Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez (Daily Express) and targeting Everton midfielder James McCarthy (Irish Independent). Players could be leaving too with Arsene Wenger confirming Inter Milan have made a more serious offer for Lukas Podolski and revealing he would like to loan Yaya Sanogo to another Premier League team.

Liverpool are reeling from the news the Steven Gerrard is leaving in the summer but a long-term line-up has already been targeted. A permanent offer for Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri has been made with the Switzerland international's other suitors only offering loan switches according to the Daily Star.

Manchester United have been linked with some huge moves, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale both serious additions to Louis van Gaal's wish list. However, Real Madrid are keen to retain the duo meaning United's attention is turning elsewhere and it's landed on their former player Paul Pogba. Again according to the Daily Star, the Juventus player has become their primary target.

Atletico Madrid have turned down an offer from Manchester City for Jose Gimenez. The 19-year-old defender has impressed this term but the Spanish champions don't want to let him go.

And finally, there is much speculation over where Steven Gerrard will play next after confirming he will leave Anfield in the summer. We've taken a look at his options.
