A disciplined Tottenham Hotspur side got the better of Manchester City in a tactical triumph for Jose Mourinho over his great rival Pep Guardiola on Saturday.

Goals from Son Heung-min and Giovani Lo Celso either side of half-time sent Spurs to the top of the Premier League table as City, despite their dominance on the ball, laboured to a disappointing defeat.

The loss meant City stay mid-table, in tenth place after eight games, and it was hardly the result Guardiola would have wanted to mark the news of his new two-year contract.

There will be questions asked of City after this, but Spurs will get the plaudits for an excellent team performance, with several standout performers helping the home side to victory.
