Daniel Sturridge does not feature in Jurgen Klopp's first matchday squad as Liverpool manager.

Despite travelling with the team for today's lunchtime kick-off against Tottenham Hotspur, the England international does not make the substitutes bench.

In an pre-match interview with BT Sport, Klopp confirmed that Sturridge had not been selected because of a knee injury which he has carried for the last few days.

“I don’t think it’s too serious," Klopp said. "He had a collision with Jordan Ibe in training and there is a bit of swelling.”

Divock Origi, the young Belgian striker with only 17 Premier League minutes to his name, starts up front.

Klopp partners Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho in defence as he awaits Dejan Lovren to make a full recovery from his ankle injury.

On the bench, youngster Jordon Ibe is arguably his most experienced attacking option. Jerome Sinclair and João Carlos Teixeira are also named among the substitutes.

Tottenham bring Moussa Dembele into the side following Eric Dier's suspension.

Danny Rose replaces Ben Davies at left-back in Mauricio Pochettino's only other change.
