Twenty-two months after the final game at White Hart Lane, a wave of flags were fanned all around the £1b stadium as supporters took to their seats long before kick-off.
A video message from chairman Daniel Levy began proceedings.
David Lammy MP also spoke about the positive impact the stadium can have on the local area which was the starting ground of the riots in 2011.
