Tottenham Hotspur finally made their bow at the new stadium against Crystal Palace with a glitzy opening ceremony to commemorate the move.

Twenty-two months after the final game at White Hart Lane, a wave of flags were fanned all around the £1b stadium as supporters took to their seats long before kick-off.

A video message from chairman Daniel Levy began proceedings.

David Lammy MP also spoke about the positive impact the stadium can have on the local area which was the starting ground of the riots in 2011.

X-Factor contestant Lanya Matthews fronted a performance of ‘Everybody Dreams’ by Gladesmore Community School against a stunning backdrop of strobe lights and fireworks.
