Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld is reportedly on course for a new contract that could double his wage to £100,000 a week.

With the Belgian attracting attention from home and abroad, Spurs are keen to tie down the 28-year-old who currently earns around £50,000 a week.

It's understood the club are ready to offer the defender a new deal which will double this figure, bringing him level with Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris.

The Daily Mail also reports that any new agreement with Alderweireld is likely to keep him at the club for the next five years.

Alderweireld’s current deal includes an option for Tottenham to add an additional year to his contract. Activating that clause in 2019 triggers a £25m release clause, though the club would be likely to remove this when they set about negotiating new terms with the defender.

Tottenham are also preparing themselves for heighted interest in their players following another impressive season.

Eric Dier has supposedly emerged as a target for Manchester United, while Kyle Walker is being considered by Manchester City.

Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Danny Rose have all been linked with a move away from the club too.
