Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly closing in on a new three-year contract as the North London club continue their bid to win the Premier League title.
The 44-year-old has attracted tentative interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, who will both be looking for new managers in the summer, but Pochettino has doubts that either would grant him the time afforded to him at White Hart Lane.
According to the Sun, the Argentinian will be offered an extra £1m on top of his £3.5m-a-year deal at Spurs as the club grow increasingly alarmed that they may lose the man who has restored them as a force in English football.
The 3-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League round-of-16 first leg last week appears to have only injected new life into their title bid, leading to a comfortable 2-0 victory at Aston Villa on Sunday.
Meanwhile Tottenham are also said to be confident of persuading defender Jan Vertonghen to sign a new contract in the coming weeks.
The Belgian international defender is recuperating from a medial knee ligament injury picked up against Crystal Palace in January but has continued talks with Spurs after proving to be instrumental to their fine defensive record this season.
That record has been the foundations of their title challenge this season and, the Evening Standard report, Vertonghen will be rewarded for his efforts with a pay-rise.
The 28-year-old is thought to currently earn in the region of £39,000-a-week in North London but Tottenham are prepared to increase that figure to £50,000.
