From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The former PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper had been second choice behind Brad Friedel but is now even further down the pecking order following the arrival France international Hugo Lloris.
Gomes revealed on Twitter earlier that he is on his way to Germany for a medical.
Gomes joined Tottenham from Dutch side PSV in the summer of 2008 and went on to make over 100 appearances for the club despite some shaky performances. Gomes rarely makes the bench with his last appearance for the London club coming in November 2011.
The Brazilian was reportedly keen to secure a move back to his homeland or return to the Netherlands in order to try to win back his place in the national squad ahead of the 2014 World Cup, but he has now joined Bundesliga club Hoffenheim.
Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp is looking to former club Tottenham for additions, with interest in Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley. Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is looking to sell or loan out a few squad players before tonight's 11pm deadline.
Villas-Boas has been heavily linked with a move for a striker with the likes of Internacional forward Leandro Damiao, Lyon's Lisandro Lopez and his team-mate Bafetimbi Gomis said to be targets. Villas-Boas though has played down any arrivals claiming late deals were 'highly unlikely' today.
