Tottenham have announced the latest recruit to Andre Villas-Boas’ team at White Hart Lane as the new manager brings a Portuguese feel to the coaching staff.

Luis Martins, whose most recent employment was working in Saudi Arabia with the national and Olympic teams, has been named as the club’s new first team coach.

Tottenham's official website read: "The club is delighted to announce the appointment of Luis Martins as first team coach."

Martins is little-known in England but as well as working in the Middle East he has been on the staff at Sporting Lisbon, overseeing the Under-17 and Under-19 sides and acting as the club's assistant coach in 2004-05.

He has also spent time coaching at Braga.

Although adding to his backroom staff, Villas-Boas has yet to name his assistant.
