Your support makes all the difference.Andros Townsend has been hitting the headlines for all the right reasons after his exploits for both Tottenham and England, but his latest big hit came on the head of a photographer at White Hart Lane after he suffered a nasty fall when he collided with the advertising hoardings.
Townsend was competing with Hull City’s David Meyler and Paul McShane as they headed towards the sideline at speed, and while the Tigers’ duo were able to prevent themselves from taking a trip over the board, the England international did a full somersault as he flipped over the hoarding.
His boot caught photographer Graham Chadwick on the top of his head, drawing blood from a cut he suffered which needed to be bandaged to stem the bleeding before he was taken to a St John Ambulance for further treatment.
Townsend appeared to be in considerable pain as he required oxygen on the sidelines, but the winger returned to the pitch after five minutes of treatment with his wrist heavily bandaged.
The White Hart Lane pitch is surrounded by a rather large drop in front of the first row of fans, where the photographers are usually found to be standing so that they can take pictures from pitch level. However, on this occasion, a dazed Townsend was found as he lay prone on the floor as the Spurs physio attended to both him and photographer Chadwick.
The 22-year-old returned to the action though, and the north London club went on to win thanks to a late Roberto Soldado penalty – his third of the season – after McShane brought him down in the area.
