Yaya Toure had a disappointing season last campaign and as a consequence Man City were fairly flat. Fortunately for Manuel Pellegrini and co, the Ivorian seems to have rediscovered his touch. His size, speed and strength tore West Brom apart and he was rewarded with two goals. If he can maintain that level throughout the season, Man City, who have the talents of David Silva, Sergio Aguero and now Raheem Sterling to call on as well, will be a fearsome prospect. Put simply, with Toure on form City will surely make a serious push for the Premier League title.
Try not to gloat too much
Rarely has a transfer in recent years caused as much ill feeling as Raheem Sterling's move to Man City. The youngster was panned for the manner in which he left Liverpool and City were criticised for overpaying for the player. People said he wouldn't make City's first team and that all he cared about was the money. After one game Sterling looks to have gone some way to proving critics wrong, looking totally at home surrounded by Silva and Toure, instantly put in the first team by Pellegrini. At the moment it looks like the only thing City will have to avoid is saying 'we told you so' too often.
Enjoy the view from the top
City enjoyed the perfect start to their season with a 3-0 win that takes them to the top of the Premier League table. While their performance against West Brom and their squad pedigree indicates that they should be in the running for the title this season, they should nevertheless enjoy the current view while they can because it seems unlikely that things will prove quite so easy for them throughout the whole season.
