Ander Herrera has brushed aside comparisons to Manchester United legend Paul Scholes, stating that the midfielder was "a one off".
The Spaniard has been one of United's most impressive performers in recent weeks after a long time out of favour under Louis van Gaal and has drawn comparisons to the former England man.
Herrera has seven goals so far this season and could become the first midfielder at Old Trafford since Scholes in 2004-05 to score double figures for the side.
Bought for £30million in the summer, the 25-year-old is already a firm favourite among supporters but has dismissed suggestions he could be the 'new Scholes'.
"There will never be a new Scholes - he's a one off," said Herrera on his Facebook page.
Speaking back in February, Herrera said he wanted to learn from the midfielder, as well as other players at the club.
"Paul Scholes is maybe the biggest midfielder in the United history," Herrera told the Manchester Evening News.
"I want to be Ander Herrera, I want to learn things from Paul Scholes, things from Michael Carrick, things from Wayne Rooney, I wish one day... I wish one day I can be so important for the fans, but I have to work very, very hard for that."
Herrera has a long way to go to replicate Scholes' 19-year spell at the club that brought more than 700 appearances, 11 League titles, two European Cups and more.
