Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has rested goalkeeper Simon Mignolet for the trip to Swansea, with the Belgium international named on a substitutes’ bench that features just six players in a rotated side that sees eight changes from the midweek Europa League defeat by Villarreal

Liverpool confirmed ahead of the Premier League match at the Liberty Stadium that Connor Randall had been ruled out on the morning of the match due to a virus, meaning Klopp could not field a full bench for the encounter.

Klopp retains just three players from the midweek trip to Spain, with Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren and Philippe Coutinho retaining their place.

Danny Ward starts in goal with Martin Skrtel and Brad Smith coming into defence, given that the centre-back Mamadou Sakho is suspended after accepting an initial 30-day ban for a failed drug test.

A completely new central midfielder sees Kevin Stewart partner Pedro Chirivella, while Jordon Ibe and Sheyi Ojo join Coutinho in supporting recalled striker Daniel Sturridge.

Swansea make two changes from the humbling 4-0 defeat by Leicester last weekend, with both Leroy Fer and Alberto Paloschi ruled out with hamstring injuries and Federico Fernandez dropped to the bench. Manager Francesco Guidolin brings Jefferson Montero into the attack with Andre Ayew taking a central role, while Jordi Amat replaces Federico Fernandez in defence.
