Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins is to hold talks with manager Brendan Rodgers over a new long-term contract at the Liberty Stadium.
Former Watford and Reading manager Rodgers, who guided the club to promotion in his first season in charge, joined on a one-year rolling contract in the summer of 2010 and is still operating under those terms.
But with the highly-rated Northern Irishman having helped the Swans make a competitive start to their maiden Premier League campaign, Jenkins is keen to tie Rodgers to the club.
Jenkins told the South Wales Evening Post: "We will be sitting down with Brendan to look at sorting out a longer-term deal over the next few months.
"Brendan's services are already secured as he is on a one-year rolling contract, but naturally we want to secure him in the long term.
"Brendan and I speak at least three times a week, maybe every day, and we have already talked through his thoughts and mine on extending his contract.
"Brendan likes working here. He is happy and he is settled, and we will look to get something sorted out."
