Brendan Rodgers has handed four players their full Liverpool debuts for the Premier League meeting with Stoke City.

Christian Benteke, Nathanial Clyne, Joe Gomez and James Milner are all in the side for the match at the Britannia Stadium.

Liverpool are returning to the place of their 6-1 defeat on the final day of last season.

On the bench are Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings.

Meanwhile Ibrahim Afellay and Marco van Ginkel, who is on loan from Chelsea, are given their Stoke debuts by Mark Hughes.

Stoke: Butland, Johnson, Cameron, Muniesa, Pieters, van Ginkel, Whelan, Walters, Adam, Afellay, Diouf.

Subs: Ireland, Odemwingie, Joselu, Sidwell, Given, Crouch, Wollscheid.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Skrtel, Gomez, Henderson, Milner, Ibe, Coutinho, Lallana, Benteke.
