From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Raheem Sterling may have already played his last game for Liverpool after reports suggested he is unlikely to feature from the start at Stoke City this afternoon.
The Reds ace has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer, with Manchester City leading the chase, and he seems to have burnt his bridges with a series of disagreements with the club's hierarchy.
But manager Brendan Rodgers continues to insist that Sterling is going nowhere - but City are increasingly confident of prising the 20-year-old away.
The Liverpool forward won the in-house Young Player of the Year award earlier in the week but, according to the Daily Mail, is expected to be left out of the team to start in Steven Gerrard's final ever match for the Merseyside club.
His agent, Aidy Ward, gave a controversial interview to the London Evening Standard on Thursday in which he said his client would not sign a new deal 'for £900,000-a-week'.
Rodgers said: "The ownership have shown strength in their time here. They have done an incredible job to stabilise the club. In this situation, they will show that strength and power to the club.
"The simple fact is Raheem has two years left on his contract."
With both the transfer fee and wages (over five years) likely to take the package beyond £80m, it is unlikely that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will follow through on his interest with a concrete offer.
